Wine and summer

Summer is here and with it comes a question of big importance- what to drink in the summer heat? The choice of suitable drink, that is both light and refreshing, comes out as a not that easy one. Today we're going to talk about wines- which are the best ones for the season and how to combine them properly with foods.

White wine and rosé are the most appropriate ones. It is highly recommended to cool them before serving- a temperature between 6 and 12° would be perfect, but when it comes to fizzy ones you should aim to 4-5°. Here are the best types of white and rose wine:

Sauvignon blanc- The taste of it is very different form the other white wines- it owns this to its green and herbaceous flavours. It is a light and refreshing wine and is the only wine that pairs with the seasonal tomatoes. It is best paired with salads with blue cheese, chicken, or sushi.

Chardonnay- It is a type that is used for the making of champgane and has a rich heavy taste. Citruses, melon, pineapple or peaches are only a part of the versatile taste range that this wine could have. It is well combined with sea food, cheese plates, spaghetti, and foods with cream.

Traminer- dry but high in aroma, this wine is one of the most floral ones. You can sense acacia, roses, even herbs in it. It is well paired with white meats, fish, and saltier foods.

What about red wine, you would ask?

It is widely said that red wine is only suitable for the colder months of the year because of its richer and heavier taste, but don't be so fast to exclude it from your menu- if it is well chosen and paired with the proper food you can still have it the summer. We're going to give you a few pieces of advice that we are sure you would find useful if you are keen of red wines.

Place the bottle of red wine in a refrigerator 20-30 minutes prone to consumption. You will be surprised how much lighter the colour of the wine is, moreover the taste will be far more refreshing. To choose the best ones for the summer heat we advice you to get not that much hued in colour wines. They're fruitier and much more refreshing during the heat. You must also be very strict when it comes to the percentage of alcohol- it must be up to 13%. Red wines are well combined with barbecues- pork or calf steaks are the best choice.
