How to avoid food poisoning during the summer?

With the summer heat approaching, comes the risk of food poisoning, because what we eat is more prone to getting infected with viruses or bacteria.

Prevention of this risk becomes №1 priority in the whole tourist industry

Today in our blog we’re going to share a few pieces of advice that we are sure you are going to find useful when working!

Let’s start!

One of the first and most primary things you must do is to not forget to check the quality of the food you’re buying. To buy the best, you must check the expiry date, usually put at the back or bottom of the packaging. But sometimes this isn’t enough.

What you must be cautious about is safe transport of the food to your kitchen or restaurant. Many foods must not be left in the heat if previously kept in a cool environment, so keep that in mind.

After reaching your working place you must once again check the food just to make sure everything is fine.

Then comes the hygiene of the working place- you must be very strict when it comes to that. Be extra cautious about the personal hygiene of the chefs and employees. Washing of one’s hands is very important. To avoid incidents and poor hygiene, place a basin with anti-bacterial soap in every room or sanitary place.

Cleaning of the kitchen is crucial. It is a must for every part of the premises to be kept clean, especially when preparing a risky food.

It is highly recommended to place a hygiene plan in every room. In that way you secure the place by informing all of the workers on the dos and don’ts when working.

The chefs must pay extra attention when cooking red meat, poultry, eggs and fish (marked as high risk food). When preparing them the least temperature of cooking must be 65° because it kills the bacteria.

Be careful when defrosting food! After being defrosted, food must not be kept out of a refrigerator! They must be cooked immediately! Never re-freeze food, unless going through thermal treatment has been done! Never keep defrosted food next to ready-to-be-served meals, even in a refrigerator because in that way you higher the risk of infecting it with bacteria.
